New Additions to Millennium Park
New interpretive signs along the Sandy Hansen Nature Trail invite visitors to explore the shoreline and discover the natural wonders of Millennium Park. The signs enrich a walk with opportunities to learn about the landscape and the plants and wildlife that call it home. Ginny Wanty and Ginny Sines are behind this effort to connect visitors with the park through outdoor learning. Their work also includes the Millennium Park Discovery program, which invites families to walk the Sandy Hansen Nature Trail and explore hosted nature stations, many led and created by MSU Extension Master Naturalists. Along the way, participants learn about the park’s history and ecology through observation, conversation, and discovery. Walk the trail and scan QR codes on 11 interactive signs to unlock connected online content as you explore. Together, the signs and Discovery program offer families new ways to enjoy the outdoors, spark curiosity, and deepen their appreciation for Millennium Park.
